Workshop Overview:
Embark on a journey through the art of Sashiko, a revered Japanese hand-sewing technique with a rich history. Sashiko transcends its practical purpose of mending and reinforcing fabric, embodying in contemporary times the profound Japanese ethos of 'mottainai' – a resonant call to cherish resources and stand against wastefulness.
In this workshop, led by our instructor Xiaoxiao from the highly popular YouTube channel Xiaoxiao Yarn which focuses on Sashiko, you will explore various Sashiko and hand-sewing techniques. Discover the art of applying patches uniquely, interweaving both functional and decorative sashiko stitches, and mastering efficient hand-sewing skills using the traditional Sashiko approach. By the end of this session, you will possess the unique ability to infuse new life into your cherished garments, adding a touch of individuality and style.

Language: Conducted in English (French translation can provided upon prior request)
Instructor: Xiaoxiao (sashiko practitioner and the creator of one of the most popular sashiko channel on YouTube Xiaoxiao Yarn.)
Materials Provided:
All necessary materials and tools will be supplied.
However, if you have a small sewing kit with thread snips, you are welcome to bring it along!
Bring Along (Optional):
Participants are welcome to bring an item of non-stretchable cotton or linen clothing or textile for personalized guidance on repair or embellishment. However, this is not mandatory.
